HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 36

Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance to make a study of unemployment in the State of West Virginia.

Whereas, As of January, 1994, the rate of unemployment in West Virginia was 11.8% and the national rate of unemployment was 6.7%; and

Whereas, At least one West Virginia county has a rate of unemployment as high as 27.1%; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby requested to review, examine and study the status of unemployment in this State and the ways and means of reducing unemployment in this State and to make recommendations to the Legislature regarding the same; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the said Joint Committee on Government and Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 1995, on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance.
